Role Playing Simulations:

No matter how good the content is, or the presenter at delivering it, learning workshops can only hope to keep delegates focused for a finite amount of time. Case studies and breakout sessions help to prolong the attention span, but the amount of learning that is retained will be governed by the amount of participation and engagement that takes place.

Peak Practice ensure that all our programmes integrate approximately 50% of the time on practical and facilitated work involving role play simulations. Many training companies apply similar techniques, but most rely upon the delegates inter-acting with one another which has only limited benefit.

We are able to offer, as part of every programme, the involvement of professional role players who stretch the delegates to perform in situations that closely mirror the workplace, making the development practical, realistic and, above all, memorable. This helps ensure that the learning is retained longer and will more likely improve job performance.

What some delegates have said about role playing:

"Thanks to the role play experience, I now feel confident in tackling any RTW interview situations" - TMc Line manager ScotRail (Managing for Attendance Programme).

"This is the first training programme I have attended where I felt I learnt something new that I could immediately apply and it was down to participating in role play exercises" - Balfour Beatty Senior Supervisor (Discipline & Grievance Programme).

"I was anxious beforehand about doing the role play, but found that I really enjoyed the experience and learnt a lot by watching others do their scenarios. "I wanted another go" - SB May Gurney Operations manager (Appraisal Programme).

"The role play actors were amazing, my interviewee was crying real tears, it really made me feel that I was back at work dealing with a real welfare crisis" CM Corporate Health delegate (MFA Programme).

"The live inter-active interviews were constructive and enjoyable and taught me a lot" - Team Leader Centrax Turbine Components

Meet some of the role players:

Mike Lappin - Mike is a part time role player and part time black cab driver in London. His past experience of working for Royal Mail has prepared him for many of the characterisations he performs. Mick says: "I love the inter-action with managers and supervisors, they're all different and depending upon their abilities determines how much I should stretch them during the simulation".

Jean Bourne - Jean has appeared in several TV shows and takes her role playing to a dimension, not normally associated with training programmes, whereby she is able to portray a range of emotions normally associated with 'character' actors. Jean says: "I think the delegates get a great deal of confidence from participating in the role play scenarios, because  it provides a risk free environment in which to practice. Making mistakes in the workplace can be unforgiving and wreck a manager's credibility"

Dan Raza - Dan is musician (singer/songwriter) who is well known on the London music  circuit. He supplements his income by acting and performing work as a film extra, appearing in high profile productions such as Sweeney Todd & Harry Potter, as well as TV shows such as Eastenders and the Bill. Dan is an accomplished role player and helps give variety to the range of characters that require to be portrayed. Dan Says: "I especially like contributing to the feed-back sessions after each simulation when delegates offer constructive critique and this genuinely aids the learning process for all concerned".
